We are looking for a Senior Equipment Commissioning Engineer to support commissioning activities for GMP manufacturing equipment on a large pharmaceutical project in Germany. The role will focus on the execution and coordination of commissioning activities for process and production equipment from FAT through to SAT, start-up, and system handover.
Responsibilities
Execute commissioning activities for GMP process and manufacturing equipment
Support FATs, SATs, dry/wet testing, and start-up activities
Coordinate vendors during installation and commissioning phases
Troubleshoot equipment issues during commissioning execution
Support turnover from construction into CQV
Review commissioning test documentation and punch lists
Work closely with automation, CQV, and operations teams
Requirements
5+ years’ experience in equipment commissioning within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or GMP-regulated manufacturing environments
Strong experience commissioning GMP process and production equipment
Hands-on experience with FATs, SATs, start-up, functional testing, and equipment turnover activities
Knowledge of commissioning documentation, test protocols, punch list management, and system handovers
Experience working alongside CQV, automation, construction, and operations teams
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during commissioning execution
Experience coordinating vendors and subcontractors on-site
Good understanding of GMP and safety compliance requirements within regulated environments
Fluent English required; German language skills highly desirable
Site based work, 70-100% - must be based in Germany
Preferred experience
Experience with biopharma, fill-finish, API, or sterile manufacturing projects
Commissioning experience with skids, bioreactors, CIP/SIP systems, packaging lines, or clean process equipment
Previous experience on large-scale greenfield or brownfield capital projects in Europe
Familiarity with ISPE and GAMP guidelines
